Let us put "JOY" in your travel!
Seattle is one of many amazing cities worth exploring. It is home to many neighborhoods with different personalities from urban and outdoorsy to artsy to posh. The Emerald City has something for everyone!
One of the first things you’ll notice when you arrive in the city is the beautiful landscape. You’ll notice a plethora of green trees with the beautiful backdrop of Mt. Rainier. Beyond the natural beauty, there is much to experience in Seattle. Start out by visiting some of the major sights such as Pike Place Market, where you’ll stroll through and experience each vendor which will range from food to flowers to craft offerings. While at Pike Place Market, if you are a fan of coffee, check out the first Starbucks Coffee which is located just outside of the market. Next, visit the Seattle Art Museum or the Seattle Aquarium. If this seems like too much walking, consider a tour such as Ride the Ducks which will take you around the major landmarks and even take you for a boat ride.
Seattle is known for the Space Needle which has 360-degree views of the city. Keep in mind that if it’s raining, you may not be able to see much from the top of the Space Needle, so wait until you have a clear day. While in the area, check out the Pacific Science Center, the Children’s Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit, Olympic Sculpture Park, or the Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum.
If visiting an island is enticing to you, hop on one of the ferries to visit Bainbridge or Vashon Islands. Bainbridge is a bit more touristy with attractions to see and beauty to take in and Vashon is more agricultural and less touristy. Finally, as mentioned in the beginning, Seattle has a plethora of neighborhoods with unique personalities. Check out Capitol Hill, Fremont, Belltown, or Ballard. If you’re in Ballard, check out the Hiram M Chittenden Locks.
If Seattle seems like a place you definitely want to visit, plan ahead! The best times to visit are July through September when it rarely rains and the weather ranges from the mid-70s to the 80s. If you go any other time of year, keep in mind that you may deal with rain.
