Let us put "JOY" in your travel!
Christmas is almost upon us and if you’re like us, you’re still in the process of brainstorming gift ideas for friends and family. Why not give the gift of travel? You can do this on any budget.
If your budget is limited, consider gift cards! You can buy restaurant gift cards or tickets for attractions at a particular destination. Or, if you’re not sure where the person would like to travel to, consider gift cards for airlines or a hotel chain. Then, the person can use the gift card in any destination they chose. If you’re buying a gift card, we recommend going to the source directly. For example, if you are going to buy a hotel gift card, go to that hotel’s website rather than buying the gift certificate elsewhere. Or, if you’d prefer that the person open a gift rather than getting a gift card, consider something they could use on a trip such as a GPS, travel guide book, camera, and luggage accessories.
Another idea is that if you know a person is already taking a trip, ask some pointed questions about what they’d like to do on the trip and try to gather information about excursions they’ve already booked. Then, consider buying a gift card at an attraction they’ve mentioned or do some research and buy tickets to a show or event that the person would appreciate.
Another options to consider is if the person you are going to give the gift to has mentioned multiple times that they want to go to, consider buying them a surprise airplane ticket to the city. A quick tip before buying the plane ticket, check with the person’s spouse or someone else who can access their work and personal calendars to ensure there isn’t a conflict on the chosen dates. This option can be totally up to the gift-giver. They can give the gift of airfare only or cover the cost of hotel only or cover the entire cost of the trip. The gift-giving options are limitless!
If you’re considering purchasing airfare, the best time for cheap deals is to travel during the wintertime, which can be a perfect time to go somewhere tropical like the Caribbean or Florida. When shopping for airfare, we recommend working with a travel agency or using a site that allows you to compare prices between airlines.
Travel is an excellent gift for that person that you can’t determine what to give them. Or it’s a great gift for the person or couple that loves to travel. We hope these tips and tricks have helped you navigate giving the gift of travel on any budget!
