Some cities around the world exemplify the Christmas spirit, whether it’s by a festival, light display, or holiday market. Here are some cities around the globe that capture the Christmas spirit.
Within the United States, travel to New York City which is widely known as a city that loves Christmas. See the beautiful tree at Rockefeller Center, where you can also ice skate. Or, go see Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular in addition to shopping along Fifth Avenue. Boston has fun holiday markets, caroling, ice skating, and holiday-themed shows. Chicago also celebrates Christmas in many fun ways. You can enjoy the large Christmas tree and animated window displays, go ice skating, or shop along the Magnificent Mile. Another great city is San Francisco which features a large Christmas tree at Union Square and a light display in Huntington Park. A small town is Santa Claus, Indiana, which lives up to its’ name.
The holiday season is celebrated around the globe. Make some time to stop in Amsterdam for lights and decorations around this picturesque city. Germans love to celebrate Christmas and are famous for their Christkindlmarket or Christmas markets. Visit Dresden, Cologne, Munich, or Berlin for some traditional German Christmas markets. London is also famous for going all out on decorations and festive traditions. Here, you’ll see city streets that are beautifully lit up. Madrid, Spain, which is commonly known for it’s architecture, features Christmas Markets, ice skating rinks, a fun parade, and a large show to kick off the holiday season.
Paris, which is known as the city of lights is also a great place to take in the festivities. Prague features carol singers in the town square, Christmas markets, and a stable on the town square that features a traditional nativity. If you also love winter sports, head to the Alps in Switzerland for excellent skiing and fun holiday markets. Or if warm weather sounds amazing, head to Sydney, Australia for Christmas Markets and a relaxing day on the beach.
