Winter is here and that means it’s time for one of our favorite winter sports, skiing! There are breathtaking resorts abroad so here are our suggestions of the best ski resorts in Europe.

Switzerland is one of the most popular countries in Europe for skiing. Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 12.15.58 PMFirst, if you want to see views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, go to Crans-Montana. Be sure to also check out Gstaad, known for well-groomed runs in addition to Andermatt which is best for powder. Next, check out Bernese Oberland for a popular ski tour in addition to the ability to see the longest glacier in Europe. If you are a foodie, then Zermatt (pictured above) is your best bet and you’ll get to see the Matterhorn. Finally, if you’d like a ski town known for nightlife, then Verbier is the place to be. Finally, St. Moritz dazzles with a plethora of restaurants and shopping.

Next, Austria offers many great ski resorts for the whole family to enjoy. If you enjoy watching a ski race or taking part in excellent skiing, visit Kitzbuhel. Ischgl is known for a great nightlife in addition to many trails. Also known for having a great apres ski scene is St. Anton am Arlberg. In France, visit Meribel, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy different terrain, making it a perfect spot for families who have skiers preferring different types of runs. A ski town perfect for foodies is Megeve, which also offers many ski runs. To see the site of the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 and enjoy extreme skiing, visit Chamonix-Mont Blanc. Finally, for a large resort with many offerings, visit Val D’Isere.

In Italy, if you want to take in gorgeous views while skiing, visit Cortina d’Ampezzo (pictured below). Perfect for beginner or intermediate skiers, Cervinia, doesn’t disappoint either.

While visiting one or some of these excellent ski resorts, consider extending your trip to visit a nearby city such as Vienna, Zurich, or Geneva. We hope your European ski trip is a blast.
