Let us put "JOY" in your travel!
Located just two hours away from Cincinnati is a great city to explore. You may either choose to do just a day trip or a weekend getaway, but Indianapolis is definitely worth checking out.
When some people think of Indy, the first thought that comes to mind is sports. The city has the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway racing track where the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400 take place. The city is also home to the NCAA headquarters, the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, and the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
If you’re traveling with kids, be sure to make a stop at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for interactive and fun exhibits for people of all ages. Or if you are downtown, stop at Monument Circle to see the the 284-foot Soldiers and Sailors Monument, which is a symbol for the city and the state of Indiana. At the base of the monument is a Civil War museum.
Another great stop for families is the White River State Park located in the heart of the city, which some may also refer to as the Central Canal. The park features pathways along the river, where you can enjoy a concert, see a 17-foot waterfall, or do a pedal-boat ride. White River State Park is also home to major city attractions including the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art and the Indiana State Museum. Within the park, you’ll also find the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens, which features great gardens and green space in addition to a fun zoo. Lastly, still within the park, is the NCAA Hall of Champions, where you’ll find sports-themed exhibits.
Not within the White River State Park but still a great attraction is the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where you’ll find collections from all over the world. If you’re willing to travel outside of city limits, consider a visit to Conner Paire which is an interactive history park across 800 acres. Here, you’ll be able to play historically accurate roles in an 1836 town. We hope you have a fun and quick getaway to Indy!
